The festival

From July 2nd to August 26th 2018

The VR Arles Festival, created jointly by BNP Paribas, Les Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles and Fisheye in 2016, showcases a curated collection of innovating interactive and immersive experiences from all over the world. Following the success of its past edition (35 000 visitors in 2018) the show will be back and extended in 2019, running from July 1st to September 8th 2019 at couvent Saint-Césaire in Arles.

The VR Arles Festival is honored to have awarded Treehugger: Wawona by London-based collective Marshmallow Laser Feast and Dinner Party by filmmaker Angel Manuel Soto in 2018. In 2019 a grant will be given to the winner of the Best VR film award during the opening week of the festival (July 1st – July 7th).

The lineup will be composed of three competitive sections: Fiction, Documentary, Art as well as an out-of-competition program dedicated to young audiences. Applications are available on the festival’s website through May 5th 2019.

Partnering with the French Institute, the VR Arles Festival also launched in 2018 an immersive storytelling Residency in Arles to support innovative storytelling and foster collaborations between various forms of creative expression. The application form will be available early 2019.
